Yayyyyy, it’s unboxing time! I had to make this call because a lot of gift boxes just came in, and guess what? The boxes have your name written on them in bold! By now, you must be eager to open up the boxes. But first, let’s bring back some memories.
I’m throwing it back to your last huge celebration, yeah, that very day that probably started as normal as every other day in your life. You were just indoors, receiving calls, and responding to heartfelt wishes from friends and loved ones, and boom, there was a knock on your door! A surprise package had just come in from your favorite plug for pleasant surprises, feel free to insert the name.
Your excitement was to the clouds as you opened up the package. Of course, the package didn’t come alone, a note from your loving and lovely (once again, insert) caught your attention. You opened and read through, beaming with smiles. Then came the time to check out your lovely collection of gifts, needless to say that you were wowed! The emotions of love, belonging, and gratitude that you felt at that moment must have been overwhelming, that’s for certain!
Alright, let us reduce the tension! Yours might not have been as dramatic as that, but, you felt so loved as you received that highly treasured bundle on that important occasion you celebrated. No matter how small or large it was in size, it remains your reason for a wide smile.
Now, I’d like us to make some comparisons! Also, this is the point where we start opening up the gift boxes. Are you ready?
First, I want you to call your attention to this: Whether there is a special occasion that you are celebrating or not, you have the gift of life to get out of the package. Think about it, the breath in your nostrils calls for everyday celebration and gratitude. I’ll say this one is very important because it allows you to open up other gift items in your collection.
Just as the note that came with the package reminded you of how loved you are, we have such a beautiful collection of notes and thoughtful words in the Word. The notes are all written to you, and with deep intentionality from our Lover.
There is a possibility that some of the goodies from your package have been used up, but not God’s gifts. I mean, how many of these daily benefits do you want to exhaust? It is never going to get finished, never! You dip your hand into the package daily, and there’s a treasure to bring out.
With time, some of the gift items in the former package can start wearing out, probably due to constant usage. However, today’s package holds gifts that are new every morning.
It is not every day that we get to receive surprises. But with Him (the One sending us this package we are opening up), there is something to look forward to every single time. What a joy to be His!
I told you earlier that these gift boxes have your name written on them in bold. We are all beneficiaries of these gifts. It is really beautiful to know that there is more than enough to go around.
Now that there are so many boxes to open up, we will only open a few at the moment. It’s your collection, you can unwrap the other items at any time!
First, there is the gift of His presence. Last week, we talked about the fact that He journeys with us all through life being our Coach. He puts us on track and yet runs with us. In Him, we have and receive everything that we have always desired, still desire, and will desire to have.
Another prominent gift in the package is Sustenance, and the note that comes with it reads; “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4,NIV). Wow, this one comes with a firm assurance!
No, we are not done yet! You cannot be tired, because His goodness is in there too. He even wrote what His plans for you in the note He sent, plans to take care of you and not abandon you, and to give you the future you hope for. The intentionality here stands out for me.
I think we have to stop unboxing at this point, for now. But I’ll leave you with this, always be conscious of the treasures in your collection. Never let them out of your sight for a second.
