And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that. (1Corinthians 1:8-9, MSB).
Hi, there! I know I won’t be the first to wish you a happy new month, but I can as well join the train of people welcoming you into this newness and abundance. Wow, this is the 11th month of the year, and see how far you have come! What do you say your name is, again? A VICTOR, yayyyyyyyy!💃
This train that began moving about 11 months ago is slowly getting to its STOP, and that consciousness comes with a lot of tension, and with a mix of high and low spirits. I hope you are not being slowed down by the weighty thought of “I haven’t achieved anything this year”. Perhaps I just touched on your perception, but here’s what I have to say to you: 60 days is such a long time in passing, and you can still MAKE IT COUNT.
Before we get started with today’s title, here’s a big shout-out to everyone that was a part of “THE BIGGEST SHOUT-OUT”. Someone said she was going to create her “shout-outs” album😀. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
Okay, let’s not keep the Coach waiting! I’m sure someone read the title and wondered if we’re going into talking about games and sports now😀. Well, you might be quite right. But at the same time, I’m sure you are aware that in the times we now live in, there are coaches for almost anything and everything that is of significance to us as humans. I mean, think of any skillset you feel you need to develop or acquire, there is a guide who specializes in that field. There, you have your Coach!
There was a time when I was really surprised at the different coaching disciplines that exist. Like, you would just search for something online and discover that someone’s certified to coach you in that area. Those periods got me amused, and I questioned the necessity for the coach in my mind. I however got an answer. We all have different interests, being the dynamic humans that we are, and we need someone to guide our activities from start to finish, even as we work towards the achievement of our goals. We need someone to be accountable to, someone to take us through the route, someone who ensures we stay true to our tasks and deadlines, the teacher figure, a cheerleader, and every other responsibility you think a coach could have.
“Alright, I get it, but what’s with this Coach talk on the 1st of November?”😀 If you just asked that question, this is the point where you sit back and relax because the journey is about to get started. And not just that, the answer to this question is underway.
A quick question; do you remember Overcomer, the movie? I mean the movie released in 2019, by the Kendrick Brothers. Yeah, that one! If you’ve seen the movie, then you are in for a lot of “yes, that’s true!” because you can relate to a few scenes I’ll be sharing. And if you haven’t, I’ll try not to be too much of a spoiler🤦, takes a deep breath. But you really should see the movie.
Of course, I had seen the movie before now, but I found myself watching it again in the past week, and I thought to share a few of the points that stood out for me about today’s title. To make this easier, I’ll touch on the scene or statement made, and then talk about the light I picked from that very part.
In case you’ve forgotten the scenes or you haven’t seen the movie at all, I introduce to you or remind you about Hannah Scott; a cross-country runner who had to participate in the state championship competition. Her Coach, John Harrison had been dedicated to training the only member of his team, Hannah in preparation for the competition. As preparations were going on, a series of events led to Coach Harrison meeting with Thomas Hill, a patient in the hospital. The plot gets more interesting when this patient who had once been an award-winning cross-country runner himself happened to be Hannah’s Dad, although they have never met before. To cut the long story short, Hannah eventually met her Dad through Coach Harrison and his wife, and a patient lying on the hospital bed ends up coaching his daughter on the pitch to the point of coming first place and winning a medal in the States competition. If you’re wondering how that happened, that might be the push you need to go see the movie☺.️
Now that I have successfully given a brief, we can now pick out the points I spoke about earlier:
At the start of the race, when Coach Harrison and his wife came through with the hearing aid accessories, Hannah wasn’t sure of what the aids were for, but she complied anyway. As we go through life, uncertainties come our way at different points in time. However, we have confidence in the presence of He who is called CERTAINTY. Even if we don’t know what lies ahead, we know WHO lies ahead. He is always ahead as a Good Guide.
Next, I couldn’t help but see how Hannah’s face lit up when she heard her Dad’s voice through the earphones. I could see an “okay, let’s do this!” kinda look, compared to the jittery one she had on a few seconds before. This is the kind of confidence our Coach would have us get, having an assurance in His presence to see us through the race.
At a point, Coach Harrison was asked to go join the other coaches, but his reply was “I’m not coaching today, she’s got a better coach!” What a statement of bold affirmation! Our earthly coaches do their absolute best, but we all have to look up to the Coach of coaches. We are safe under His train.
Her dad had participated in the race before, so he completely understood the terrain and landmarks. He knew where she would be at any given time based on her speed and his experience. He was also aware of the state her limbs would be in with each passing time. Likewise, we have a Coach who understands what it feels like to be on the journey that we are in, and He is right by us to help us through it. Here’s the good news; WE ARE NOT WITHOUT HELP.
As she ran her race and the communication continued, he spoke of how he prays for her. Guess what, we have someone that does the same! He isn’t even taking a break. Here’s what He said about you, “Not on your life! (insert your name)’s Guardian will never doze or sleep (Psalms 121:4, MSB).
All through the race, she had instructions coming to her about the pace to keep, when to increase it and when to run at a steady pace. You know our Coach will never leave us on our own, He also gives us instructions at all times. If we will win our race, we must be in tune and not run ahead of Him.
Hannah has been living with Asthma for a long time, yet she was allowed to participate in the competition. Our Coach is aware of all our weaknesses, yet He chose us to be His representatives. He infuses inner strength into us and makes us self-sufficient in His sufficiency (Philippians 4:13, MSB). He does not call the qualified, He qualifies the Called.
As the race continued, her dad kept cheering her on with words of encouragement. And as she approached the finish line, he was excited about the victory ahead of her. Our Coach sees us at every point we are in our race. He is expecting our triumphant end because He has given us all that we need for our journey.
Here’s a spoiler alert to those who haven’t watched; Hannah won the race! Of course, her dad was so proud of her. As we live every day, our Coach is always so proud when we manifest every bit of the greatness inside of us. Imagine the joy and satisfaction on His face when we eventually get to meet Him at the end of our lives!
Finally, our Omnipresent Coach is the one who has put us on the track, runs with us, and yet waits at the finish line to receive us.
By now, I’m sure you have the answer to the question on your mind earlier, about why we are speaking of a Coach. We really cannot do life without Him. Here’s a call to being conscious of His presence in your race. Nothing but victory waits at the finish line, and we are getting there, unharmed, untouched!
Wow, I have successfully done a movie review!😀 I celebrate you for reading to the end. Please, remember to share your thoughts with me in the comment section. I promise to be back within the month☺. Stay happy, and have a remarkable November!
