SHED THE WORRYING WEIGHT

by themirrorandreflections

“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (1Peter 5:7, AMP).

Hello, friend. It’s another beautiful Tuesday, and there’s one more to go before we say a happy goodbye to November 2022! Time really moves at a jet speed! I mean, the last blog post still feels like it was released just yesterday, and we have another already☺️.  It’s a subtle reminder about how far we have come, and where we are going. We are almost there!

You probably already know what’s next, but I’ll still drop it. Thank you for returning every week with a greater energy level. The time you spend reading, reflecting, and giving feedback is highly appreciated and valued. I celebrate you!

Today, we will be addressing a concept I call the worrying weight. This is a topic that has been spoken of over and over again, and we all seem to know the way out. Yet, we find ourselves slipping right into what we thought we have stepped out of or overcome. What then could be the cause of the gap between our knowledge of combating worry and the practice? Hence, here’s my reason for writing about this today. At this point, I’m inviting you to come on board with me. Get in the ride!

Have you ever been in a situation where you feel so burdened with taking a major step in your life, an assignment or a task you had going on, or an upcoming major examination? You already heard a lot about it, which has contributed to your level of anxiety. You keep getting this occasional vibe (fear) of things falling apart. You activate your confessions of positivity, yet you couldn’t help getting worried sometimes.

Eventually, the event took place, and you came out atop the situation! It was a major win moment for you! Of course, all that worry had flown out of the window. The only expression you had left was that of praise and gratitude. You survived what you thought was going to be the end of you. Yeah, I know I’m bringing back memories. It’s a good time to do this, and we are not done yet.

After that initial experience, you were so confident that there was nothing else coming your way that could not be handled, seeing how God came through for you previously. Right, you thought you had seen it all! Then, the next challenge came, packaged in its full “mountain” regalia! Yes, you gained confidence from the first, but you didn’t see this one coming! It felt like this very one had stretched you to the maximum and could finally break you. But here you are today, reading this and beaming happy smiles because you thrived and are still thriving. This crown on your head sure suits you, a King and Queen I stan!

And now, there is another cause for concern at the moment. You already have second thoughts about winning, wondering if you will ever make it through because this is nothing like what you’ve been faced with previously. This seems so out of your control. Hey, I have a message for you!

The truth is that new situations keep popping up in our faces every time, some of which we might feel are beyond us. When they seem so, we start to overthink and we become restless. We get so burdened, and the mind gets to unprofitable work most of the time. We keep trying to connect the dots, but it still doesn’t add up because overthinking never births a solution. A lot of energy goes into this, and that is why I call worry an energy sucker and a weight.

Earlier, I asked a question about the reason we often fail to put our knowledge of dealing with worry into practice in our time of need.  A major reason that encompasses whatever we think gives rise to worrying is forgetfulness. In the face of pressure, we seem to forget the goodness of God we have enjoyed in times past. We get so lost in the situation that we lose sight of who and Whose we are.

Here’s a reminder; worrying does not come close to the solution. It only comes with other baggage. The time that should be spent being productive could go into worry. There is even the stress aftermath, which could hold health challenges by the hand. And you know what, worrying is a thief of joy!

Again, be reminded about the way out of worrying. First, be confident in the assurance that He is always for you and never against you. He loves you too much to mismanage your life. He has your name written on His palm, and you are forever in His thoughts. He never stops thinking about you, not even for a second. Even as you read this, you are on His mind. I don’t know of any other great feeling that beats this.

This is a letter to you: “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life” (Philippians 4:6-7, MSB).

It is also a good time to count your blessings. Get to pen down every win you have had, both great and small. Remember the circumstances that surrounded the past situations and the eventual emergence of your victory! Remember how you began to wonder why you had that much worry after you overcame, how you realized you gave the situation the power it didn’t deserve? Yeah, it’s going to happen again! The God of THEN is the same as NOW, He has not changed!

Rather than being terrified by what you do not hope for, how about having a mental picture of what you desire to be the outcome and taking steps of faith toward getting there? Do whatever ought to be done with due diligence. See yourself in that space, see yourself celebrating your success! Never let that image out of your mind or sight. You need that much positive energy. See, you have no idea of the mind-blowing greatness that lies ahead! It’s massive, and it’s overflowing!

In case you are reading this and you feel like nothing has ever worked out for your good, permit me to debunk that lie from he that isn’t your source. You have a Source from whom your everyday breath comes. That breath He gives you every morning is to tell you that He isn’t done with you yet. He has held you thus far, and He will keep holding you. He will so surprise you, and it will be so evident. Everyone is going to see it and rejoice with you. You are loved!❤️

Finally, I leave you in the hands of He Who is called your help in ages past, and your hope for the coming days. He gives you the strength to stand your ground, and He gives you perfect peace. He surrounds you with positive-minded people, and He gives you unspeakable joy🙏.

Till another time I write to you, keep resting in His care. Love and light!❤✌
