THE BIGGEST SHOUT-OUT

by themirrorandreflections

“But now, O Israel, the Lord who created you says: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1, NLT).

Hey, it’s so good to have you back here. It’s been a week since we last met in this space, and I trust that a lot of positivity and possibilities have emerged in the week. This gives rise to my congratulations to you, for the current and coming successes.

Yeah, today is for a particular shout-out! However, it would be a crime for me to just dive right into it without mine coming to you first. So, this is me saying thank you for reading my first post, and for the mind-blowing comments you gave. I am grateful for the wonderful feedback and words of encouragement. And if this is your first time on this blog site, you have my showers of emojis for today❤🤗. I gave “my hearty welcome” in the first post, and I know you will check it out for the full gist. Thank you in advance☺️.

Now, we can proceed! Hmmm, a shout-out? Who is it for, and who is it coming from? I’m just as curious as you are right now, and we will find out soon enough.

Let me give a short back story. I was checking a friend’s WhatsApp story some time ago, and she uploaded a screenshot of her gallery with her pictures on display. The album title read “Shout-outs”. She wrote a caption to talk about her love for shout-outs, to the extent that she had to create a separate folder on her phone to house all the shout-outs she had received and could still lay her hands on.

I could totally relate to that post because I am also a fan of shout-outs. So, you can already guess what I did after reading the post. I created a folder in my gallery, and I added all the screenshots I had taken with respect to the shout-outs I had received. By now, I’m sure you know what the title is.

There have been causes for celebrations in our lives at one time or the other. Don’t think too far, I’m talking about your last birthday celebration, your graduation ceremony, your sign-out party, that small or big win at work, the exam success you just had, and every other achievement that is coming to your memory right now. These events don’t just pass by without people celebrating with us, one major way being writing goodwill messages, giving us accolades, and using certain qualifiers that move us to tears (what we call cutting onions)😭.

Also, there have been days that we were not exactly celebrating anything, but a thoughtful post just lands in our d.ms or status uploads from the people that matter the most to us. This particular one hits differently because you were not expecting it or looking forward to it. You were just on your own, scrolling through your phone and you see your picture on a friend’s status or you get a message notification.

Of course, there is no way you will see your picture and won’t take a look. And there it is, someone just decides to cut onions in form of words! Perhaps you’ve even been having a bad day, and that thoughtful shout-out just lightens your mood, and the rest of your day is made.

I can’t be the only one that never allows those beautiful collections of words just disappear without taking a screenshot. If you are also on this table, then you know that there are times you had to fall back on those screenshots to get some encouragement when you were faced with a situation you could not help, and you just needed something to cheer you up.

Now, all of these are a means to an end; reminding us about how much we are loved, valued, respected, and the faith people have in our growth and becoming.

At this point, a shout-out just came in for you from someone so dear to your heart. You mean you haven’t seen it? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered: “…I have called you by name; you are mine”. Did I just hear you say “Is this for me”? Of course, it’s yours! Feel free to let out an “awwwwn”, you are allowed to blush too.

It’s a great feeling to have someone tell you “you are mine”, how much more when it’s coming from the One who made you? He has said it, is saying it, and will still say it over and over. He is letting out His thought towards you in all honesty. No whining, no flattery!

Sometimes, we get to read or hear these messages from our loved ones, and we are like “Isn’t this a little too much? You mean all of these words really qualify me?” Of course, they are being genuine, but we sometimes cannot just believe we are as awesome as they think we are. However, you can be assured that His account of you is true. He legit meant it when he said “you are mine”.

Just like we have our screenshots to remind us that we are loved when we are having a bad day, we have this constant reminder from Him to fall back on at all times. The assurance that we are His keeps us going as we remember that we are not alone. We have someone that sees us in all that we are going through. In the good and bad times, He has never changed His mind about you. His whole heart reaches out to you always in that statement; “you are mine”.

Dearest, live the rest of the week and beyond with the consciousness that you have someone bearing the megaphone at all times. He is always cheering you on, saying “…I have called you by name, you are mine”. You can always thrive because you belong to Him, and He belongs to you.

Wow, you made it to the last paragraph! You deserve another shout-out from me. Thank you for riding with me this week, we meet again soon. You are loved
